Voltaback

Voltaback raises €2.8M to scale hardware-free EV charging reimbursement, already used by 20% of the CAC 40

Voltaback, a French startup founded by Arnaud Tran and Adrien Guenard, announces €2.8 million in funding from European investment fund Serena and several business angels, including Aurélien de Meaux (co-founder of Electra) and Maxime Brousse (Sequoia Scout). Its platform initially enables the reimbursement of electric vehicle charging at employees’ homes, without deploying any equipment. Its clients now use the tool as their new OS for fleet management and employee mobility. In twelve months, it has already been adopted by 20% of CAC 40 companies, including Veolia and Equans.

Home charging reimbursement, the blind spot of electrification

In the first half of 2026, 241,565 new electric cars were registered in France, representing 28.2% of the passenger car market. According to Enedis, 80% of charging could take place at the driver's home, where energy is nearly four times cheaper than on public charging networks: €8 versus €30 for a 50 kWh charge.

“If employees aren't reimbursed by their employer for charging at home, they lose out on €600 a year, which pushes them toward public charging stations. For the company, those same charges then cost up to €2,000 a year.”

Arnaud Tran, co-founder of Voltaback

Still, reimbursing the employee is easier said than done. Isolating the business share of consumption on an employee's personal electricity bill and producing a receipt that URSSAF (the French social security contributions agency) will accept remains out of reach for most SMEs and large corporations. What's more, flat-rate reimbursements expose the company to a reassessment.

Hardware solutions, such as connected cables or charging stations, cost between €1,000 and €2,000 per employee and require an intervention at the employee's home, not to mention the question of who owns the charger if the employee changes roles.

A method validated by Bureau Veritas and URSSAF, deployed by 20% of the CAC 40

Voltaback cross-references data from the bill, the meter and those of the connected vehicle to reconstruct each home charging session and value it at the actual rate of the employee's electricity contract, off-peak hours and Tempo tariffs included, in order to generate the reimbursement receipt. Its calculation method has been validated by Bureau Veritas and is patented. It is also covered by an advance ruling (rescrit) from URSSAF.

In twelve months, this approach has won over 20% of CAC 40 companies. Veolia, which operates more than 20,000 vehicles in France, is rolling out the solution over three years, with at least 6,000 electric vehicles concerned. Equans, whose fleet numbers 25,000 vehicles, BNP Paribas, Sanef, Lyreco, Loxam, Fayat, Fives and Sodexo are also among its clients. Among these clients, more than 60% of renewed vehicles are now electric and connected.

“We looked at the different approaches on the market. Voltaback was the solution able to meet our scaling challenges without forcing us to deploy and manage complex connected equipment at each employee's home.”

Funding to extend the platform beyond charging

The platform's use now goes well beyond charging. Since the summer, fleet managers have been connecting their entire fleet to it (combustion-engine vehicles included) to track mileage, calculate benefits in kind or report CSR indicators, without telematics devices, which are costly and slow to deploy.

Voltaback applies the same expertise gained on charging data to the native data emitted by vehicles in general, and turns this data into action to drive changing usage patterns, from the choice of charging location to eco-driving, with the ambition of becoming the reference platform for business mobility in Europe.

The funding also supports the rollout of the platform in six European countries and the expansion of the team.

“Voltaback has developed a highly effective solution for fleets. It is one of the most advanced teams in the mobility software sector, with an excellent product and a clear vision of the market. Voltaback, together with Electra's eMSP offering, will give us an integrated solution for businesses.”

Aurélien de Meaux, co-founder of Electra and investor in Voltaback

“Voltaback brings together what we look for in exceptional founders: outsized ambition and a strong ability to execute. Their vision goes well beyond home charging reimbursement: they want to transform business mobility in Europe in the age of AI and the electric vehicle, with an ambition that recalls that of Samsara in the United States ten years ago. In less than a year, they have convinced some of the largest companies in Europe and demonstrated the value of their solution at scale. We are proud to support them in this new stage.”

About Voltaback

Founded by Arnaud Tran (Polytechnique, Stanford) and Adrien Guenard (CentraleSupélec, MIT), and Gautier Artru (late Founder - CPO), Voltaback is a software fleet management platform built on connected vehicle data, with no box or equipment to install. It first made its name with the actual-cost reimbursement of home charging for company electric vehicles: its algorithms reconstruct each charging session, whether the employee lives in a detached house or an apartment building, and produce a compliant receipt using a method validated by Bureau Veritas, covered by a URSSAF advance ruling (rescrit) and patented.

Fleet managers now connect their entire fleet to it, combustion-engine vehicles included, to track the real usage of each vehicle and produce their indicators. Voltaback turns this data into action, from the choice of charging location to eco-driving, with the ambition of becoming the reference platform for business mobility in Europe.

ISO 27001 certified and GDPR compliant, Voltaback supports companies of all sizes, from SMEs to CAC 40 groups.
